Bring Your Own Provider (BYOP)

Customers already using messaging providers such as Twilio, Nexmo, RingCentral etc., can continue using your provider and use Native SMS-Magic Application on Salesforce, Zoho, and other CRMs together and give your businesses the best of both worlds. This separation of Application and the underlying messaging provider gives businesses all the features and benefits of the application you know and love, but use a trusted provider at the messaging layer too.

BYOP enables you to use a phone number provided by an external provider without losing the functional benefits of SMS-Magic Application. This is different from number porting where the provider associated number is changed. With BYOP, the provider remains the same and you can retain your number and pricing benefits provided by your provider.

When is BYOP useful?

BYOP is useful when —

  • You wish to utilize the features of SMS-Magic without losing your carrier
  • SMS-Magic does not have numbers in the regions you operate in
  • Your existing number cannot be ported into SMS-Magic
  • Your local provider provides better call rates
  • You have an existing contract with your local provider

Checklist for SMS-Magic Customers using BYOP:

  • You have an existing account with a provider such as Twilio, Nexmo, etc. for text messaging
  • You Sign-In to SMS-Magic with your provider (There are different methods of authentication or integrating the SMS Providers, click here to know more)
  • You continue your billing relationship with your existing Provider. You pay for SMS-Magic license fees only.
  • Messages Originated or received from SMS-Magic app are routed through your provider
  • Your SMS Provider will be responsible for the delivery of messages (received or transmitted) to them. SMS-Magic will produce the sent reports to the provider and publish the delivery statuses returned by the provider.

Here is a visual representation of how your provider fits into our ecosystem.

In case you are already using a VOIP number for calling purposes and want to continue using the same number for texting using the SMS-Magic app, you can directly integrate using Third-Party Integration (TPI).

Third-Party Integrations (BYOP/TPI)

TPI provides our customers with the capability of using the existing VOIP number purchased from Twilio, Nexmo, Ringcentral, Bandwidth, etc. We support 59 carriers/aggregators that can be used on the same account for messaging in multiple countries.

When enabled, the SMS-Magic application will use the custom pipe to send and receive messages. The customers will have to maintain the credits to successfully send messages using the SMS-Magic App.

SMS-Magic will charge an additional fee for enabling TPI integration and allow customers to use their existing VOIP number for texting.

Advantages Of BYOP/TPI

Following are the benefits of using TPI integration with the SMS-Magic app:

  • You can save on the time required to port your existing number to SMS-Magic messaging providers.
  • The other benefits one can avail is that the customer will have access to the portal provided by Twilio, Nexmo, Ringcentral, etc.
  • Customers do not have to follow any additional coding & configuration process to enable texting capability from Salesforce. Using the existing phone number, customers can enable texting capability directly from Salesforce CRM.

Disadvantages of BYOP/TPI

Following are some of the major disadvantages of using TPI integration with SMS-Magic:

  • Customers will have to ensure that they have sufficient credits to send & receive messages from the CRM
  • Any issue related to message delivery will have to be reported to the customer service providers and the SMS-Magic Support Team will not be able to assist in such situations.
